SHILLONG, Jan 7: The prefabricated COVID Care Centre (CCC) at Pasteur Institute, Lawmali Pyllun, will be operationalised as soon it gets electricity and water connections.
Elucidating on this, an official on Friday said the CCC will be up and running after payment is made to the MeECL for installation of the transformers for electricity connection.
It was also informed that they are waiting for the water connection from the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department. “The prefabricated COVID Care Centre is ready for commission except for the electricity and water connection,” the senior official said.
Other works to be done include a sewage septic tank. The liquid waste from the CCC will be released directly to the existing effluent treatment plant at the Ganesh Das Hospital. On the other hand, it was informed that the work on the prefabricated structure at Tura is expected to be completed by February.
The Chennai-based Modulus Housing, which is implementing the project, will soon start the installation of the prefabricated structures since the foundation work has been completed, a senior official informed.
The total estimated cost of material for both CCCs, inclusive of equipment and furniture, is Rs 7 crore while the estimated cost of civil work for each structure is Rs 2.58 crore. The funds, earmarked by the Centre, will be utilised in the construction of the two structures while the funds for the preparations of the site will come from the state budget.
The engineering wing of the Health department had engaged the Chennai-based firm to construct the two projects with 100 beds each.
