Shops to close down by 8 PM in greater Shillong area amid Covid concerns

Shillong, Jan 8: Amid apprehensions over spread of Covid-19 and its new Omicron variant, the district administration here has revised the functional hours of shops, restaurants etc., within Shillong Urban Agglomeration so as to prevent the surge in Covid-19 cases. The order comes into immediate effect.

According to a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills district today, all shops in the Shillong Urban Agglomeration  will close by 8:00 P.M sharp while  restaurants and other eateries will close by 9:00 PM.

Shops and vendors will remain closed on Sundays. The administration will issued a separre order regulating the working hours of bars and wine shops .
