Kohima: The Nagaland unit of BJP in a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner of India has demanded disqualification of Naga Peoples Front candidate of Tuensang Sadar-II Assembly Constituency Kejong Chang for violation of Model Code of Conduct.

In a complaint letter submitted to the Election Observer, Nagaland BJP vice-president and election coordinator Johny G. He said accordingly, ‘Kejong transported the bitumen to Kuthur village on February 7 by a vehicle as promised for the vote of Kuthur village’.

In this regard, BJP said the following persons lodged a complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer, BJP President and Vice President Tuensang Sadar-II, N. T. Mongko and B. Mosha, S. Kumcho General Secretary.

BJP said this was a clear violation of the Model Code of Conduct as per the Election Commission guidelines.

In view of this, BJP Nagaland has demanded the Election Commission of India to disqualify Kejong Chang from contesting the State Assembly elections.

Meanwhile, talking to this correspondent, Mr. Rengma said the Tuensang district administration has already visited Kuthur village and asked the villagers not to use the bitumen till the election is over. He also said the photograph and video recordings of the said bitumen barrels were sent to BJP headquarters and accordingly the Central BJP leaders lodged a complaint to the ECI along with the proofs, which may lead to disqualification of the candidate.
