TMB warns of action against illegal cattle rearing

 TURA, Jan 11: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tura Municipal Board (TMB) has through a communiqué notified the cessation of illegal rearing of cattle (cows/pigs) within municipality areas.

The CEO stated that complaints has been pouring out from various areas of Tura against the nuisances being caused by illegal cattle rearing in residential compounds within municipality areas, therefore the TMB has decided to take strict action against those engaged in the practice.

The communiqué further stated that the TMB enforcement staff would be deployed to detect illegal cattle rearing in municipality areas against which appropriate action would be taken in compliance with the provisions of the Meghalaya Municipal Act 1973.

The CEO also stated that in addition to imposition of fines on those caught rearing cattle the cows/pigs would be seized and sold off through public auction.
