NONGSTOIN: Advisor of the Mawduh primary unit of the Congress in West Khasi Hills Daniel Nongsiej has been accused of trying to ‘buy votes’ for the party.

Mawduh village comes under 32- Nongstoin AC in West Khasi Hills District from where Congress candidate Dr Adviser Pariong is contesting.

The headman of Mawduh Sping K Marshah has alleged that Nongsiej had given Rs 500/- to one Krip Iawren (73), a resident of Mawduh Rs 500/- and asked her to vote for the Congress. “A confused Iawren accepted the money but informed it to the Dorbar Shnong,” Marshah said.

The Dorbar Shnong of Mawduh which condemned the act also picked up a heated argument with Congress members from the area following which the police from the polling station had to intervene and take stock of the situation.

The Dorbar Shnong later demanded the District Election Officer to take immediate action against the perpetrator.
