Guwahati, Jan 12: Meghalaya government hopes that the vexed boundary dispute with Assam will get resolved, at least partially, by January 21, the 50th Statehood Day of the hill state.
This was stated by Meghalaya’s Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong after attending the fourth Chief Minister level discussion on inter-state boundary disputes held between Conrad Sangma and Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma in Assam State Guest House at Koinadhara here this afternoon.
Senior minister and officials from both states attended the meeting that focused on resolving the disputes in at least six areas out of the total 12 such areas before January 15.
Briefing media persons, Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong said that CMs of both the states had set a target of January 15 to resolve the dispute in six out of 12 areas of dispute.
All the regional committees formed to study the issue in these six areas have already submitted their report. He hoped that it will be only a matter of time before the dispute in these areas is resolved.
The Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya said that they were hopeful of a solution before Meghalaya celebrates its 50th Statehood Day on January 21 next.
