SHILLONG: The State Government would soon frame charges against JE Rodborne, Project Director of the Meghalaya Non-Conventional and Rural Energy Development Agency (MNREDA), for allegedly forging the signature of MNREDA Director Jopthiaw Lyngdoh and misappropriation of Rs 1 crore from the projects which had not been implemented.

“We would start framing the charges once the departmental inquiry in this case is completed,” official sources informed on Monday.

According to official sources, the forgery and misappropriation of funds by the Project Director came to light after the department had ordered a preliminary inquiry into the matter.

Meanwhile, the police have refused to divulge any details on their investigation into this matter.

“It would not be wise to discuss anything on the matter. We have in fact just started the investigation,” a senior police official said on Monday.

Rodborne had been arrested on Thursday last on the basis of a complaint lodged by the MNREDA Director and was subsequently suspended from office. It may be mentioned that the Project Director had allegedly forged the signature of the MNREDA Director in relation to a project for setting up of 70 SLV stations across the State amounting to Rs 88.87 lakh.
