Kohima: In the modern world of Information Technology, Nagaland is still lagging behind and the office of the Chief Electoral Office failed to provide adequate poll turnout percentage till this morning.

The election for the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly was ended at 0400 P.M. of Saturday and the Chief Electoral Officer of Nagaland had given a provisional average voter turnout of 83.29 per cent at 0600 P.M., but said the percentage may shoot up after information from far flung areas come in.

The percentage has indeed gone up to 87.64 per cent Sunday, but this is still not the final figure as reports from Mon district are yet to reach the CEO’s office, although reporters in the State Capital waited at the CEO’s media cell centre till 0900 P.M. Sunday night, but the office was unable to provide the final figures.

It may be mentioned here that on the last day of filing of Nomination Papers, the Returning Officer of Kohima also failed to provide the total number nomination filed for Kohima district up to 0700 P. M. to CEO’s office, situated only a stone throwing distance from RO’s office.

Further, the office has also not been able to confirm the number of polling stations going for re-poll and the dates of re-polling. On Saturday the CEO had said that polling in three booths had to be adjourned due to involvement of armed miscreants and clash between supporters and party workers of candidates.

They are Hoshepu polling station under Aghunato Assembly Constituency under Zunheboto district, Zhavame village polling station number 17 under Chizami Assembly Constituency in Phek district and Toshiho polling station under Ghaspani-II Assembly Constituency in Dimapur district.

Not further information has been made available till Monday. (UNI)
