SLFC name U-20 I-League squad

SHILLONG: Shillong Lajong Football Club (Under 20) will feature in the 2013 edition of the I-League Under 20 Football Tournament – the top level of youth football in India – which kicks off in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, on March 5.

Fifteen teams will vie for top honours in the tournament, with Pune FC being defending champions. SLFC had qualified for the final round last year and finished third overall behind Mumbai FC.

The teams have been divided into three groups of five with the three top teams from each group heading into the final round which begins on March 16.

The 27-member Lajong squad will depart Shillong on Friday.

Shillong Lajong have been clubbed in Group C with Air India, Mohun Bagan, Churchill Brothers and Sesa Football Academy.

Lajong will first play Churchill Brothers on March 6.

Their next matches are against Sesa Football Academy (March 8), Air India (March 10) and Mohun Bagan (March 14).

Midfielders – Lalrammuana, Ksankupar Khongmalai, Hardy Cliff Nongbri, Imliakum Longkumer, Wahengbam Angosana Luwang, Jacob Lalrawbawla, Zodingliana Ralte, Prabal Deka, Sana Singh, Rupert Nongrum

Forwards – Shanbor Jyrwa, Lalruatfela, Th Bipin Singh, Shaiborlang Kharpan, Yami Longva.

Coach – Gumpe Rime, Assistant coach – Alison Kharsyntiew, Manager – Nongthonbam Puthina Meitei.
