SHILLONG, Jan 27: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Thursday came down heavily on those making allegations of rampant illegal coal mining and transportation in the state and asked them to approach the National Green Tribunal (NGT) if they had any proof of the illegalities.
“I am tired of talking about it. I have told a hundred times that an independent agency is already there and they also have a Special Investigation Team to monitor illegal mining or transportation of coal and we leave it to their wisdom,” Tynsong said in reacting to the statement of its MDA ally — the UDP — that there was nothing wrong in demanding an independent inquiry into such allegations.
When his attention was drawn to the wide call for a CBI probe into the matter, Tynsong said, “What CBI? The NGT is the appropriated authority to monitor everything and whenever any order comes from NGT we abide by it.”
