Mumbai: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Friday landed in Mumbai to meet party officials. The visit caused some traffic disruption, sparking comments on micro blogging site Twitter.
In his first visit to the state after being appointed the party vice president, Gandhi met with senior leaders and junior party workers, including parliamentarians, legislators, municipal corporators and chiefs from the six district units at the party headquarters in Dadar in central Mumbai.
Gandhi was accompanied by Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, state Congress chief Manikrao Thakre and AICC in-charge Mohan Prakash for the meeting.
Meanwhile, enraged Mumbaikars took to micro-blogging site Twitter to express their agony over blocked roads and rows of hoardings announcing Gandhi’s visit.
“Has this country lost it? Roads from the airport Bombay closed owing to Rahul Gandhi’s arrival so what’s that crap about ‘aam aadmi’??” tweeted actor and author Suhel Seth.
“Rahul Gandhi on every illegal hoarding in Mumbai. Has he won us a battle that we are welcoming him. Or is it his 1st time ever in Mumbai,” tweeted another hassled commuter, Ashwin Iyer. (PTI)
