Shillong, Jan 31: Seven drug smugglers, including a woman were arrested from different places under Sonapur police station on the outskirts of Guwahati city in the neighbouring state of Assam on January 30.
Sonapur police first arrested one smuggler from 14th Mile Tamulikuchi area on Sunday and based the lead provided by him during the interrogation, police arrested a woman running a paan shop on the roadside of NH 6 near Jorabat.
Police recovered 10 grams of heroin, two soap containers, khaini boxes, syringes, drugs kept in small plastic containers, besides packing paper.
During the operation, six youths from 14th Mile Tamulikuchi and the woman from Jorabat were arrested, police said.
Police are interrogating other accused and an FIR has been registered under the NDPS Act
