International Women’s Day

lThe BSF is celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8 whereby many cultural activities and events will be organized by BSF at Frontier HQ BSF Umpling Shillong and at various other BSF locations in Meghalaya Frontier.

lThe Meghalaya State Commission for Women in collaboration with the State Social Welfare, Police department, Lympung ki Seng Kynthei, State resource centre for women, partner NGOs, North East Network along with the Durbar Dong of Demseiniong and the Durbur Shnong Umlyngka has celebrated the International Women’s Day by organising awareness campaigns on Gender Sensitization at Demseiniong community hall on March 2 and at the BDO office complex at 5th Mile Upper Shillong on March 5.

lThe iLEAD Shillong in collaboration with Rotary Club Orchid Shillong will organise various programmes to commemorate the International Day from March 6 onwards till March 8.

Best wishes

The Ri-bhoi Students Union (RBSU) and the KSU Nongthymmai Circle have extended their best wishes to the youth of the state who are appearing the various examinations conducted by the board and university this year. The two unions also urged the students to study hard and come out with flying colours.

Seminar

The College of Teacher Education (PGT), Shillong is organizing a two day National Seminar on ‘Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation towards Holistic Development of a Child’ on March 7 and 8. The Inaugural function will be held on March 7 at 11.00 AM.

Liquor raid

The Deputy Commissioner (Excise) of East Khasi Hills has informed that during the month of January, the excise staff detected 33 cases with seizure of 609.130 litres of illicit liquor and 345.499 litres of IMFL seized. In this connection, 29 persons were arrested.

The superintendent of police of East Khasi Hills has informed that Dilip Baspor (20-21), son of (L) Hari Kishor Baspor of Happy Valley is wanted by the police. Any person having knowledge or whereabouts of the accused may inform Shillong Police control room at 0364-2222277 or OC of Madanriting at 94361-10967. The identity of the informant will be kept confidential.

Prohibition

The Chief Executive Officer, Shillong Municipal Board has informed the residents of Jaiaw that dumping of garbage in and around Jaiaw area is prohibited with immediate effect and all residents within the jurisdiction of Jaiaw Pyllun Dorbar are requested to dumb their garbage in the SMB garbage vehicle.
