Garo Hills fighters felicitated

Tura, Feb 7: Eleven fighters from Garo Hills who bagged medals at the National Pencak Silat championship and Northeast Pencak Silat championship held in December last year were felicitated by the West Garo Hills Pencak Silat Martial Arts Association recently.

The felicitation, which was held at the SMELC building in Dakopgre was attended by North Tura MLA Thomas A Sangma as the Chief Guest in the presence of Selsella MLA F C A Sangma.

Speaking on the occasion, Thomas expressed happiness over the achievement and promised to support the Association saying, it can serve as a platform to reform the misguided youth of the present generation. He said that taking part in such sports activities can divert the youth from mobile phones, the constant use of which can harm ones health.

The medal winners who were felicitated include, Karimcheang A Sangma (Gold), Asher A Sangma (Gold), Beamsaint B Marak (Gold), Sengkubirth B Marak (Silver), Chuangchi A Sangma (Silver), Tengsal A Sangma (Bronze), Walsame A Sangma (Bronze), Sengsam B Marak (Bronze), Moonmoon Rabha (Silver), Indobiusbirth Marak (bronze) and Jaksalarimchi T Sangma (Bronze). The team from Garo Hills was led by Coach Elbiston Marak and Manager Eddy D Marak.
