SHILLONG, Feb 8: In what can be termed as a major relief to many, the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) in Meghalaya has reduced from 42 per 1,000 live births in 2015 to 33 per 1,000 live births in 2019.
This was informed by the Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar, in a written reply in the Upper House on Tuesday.
It was informed that the IMR per 1,000 live births in Meghalaya decreased in the order of 42, 39, 39, 33 and 33 from the years 2015 to 2019 respectively.
As per the Sample Registration System (SRS) Bulletin of Registrar General of India (RGI), the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) on the national level has reduced from 37 per 1,000 live births in 2015 to 30 per 1,000 live births in 2019.
