SHILLONG, Feb 9: The newly appointed government LP schoolteachers in the state have alleged district-wise disparity in disbursement of their salary and have sought a clarification from the state government on the same.
“There is a huge disparity in the disbursement of the salary for the newly appointed government LP teachers in the state of Meghalaya, differing from districts to districts which creates a lot of conflict in the mind of the teachers who are appointed,” said one of the teachers under probation, requesting anonymity.
“This highly demotivates the teachers who are qualified enough to enjoy the privilege that they should be getting from the increment based on qualifications,” the teacher added.
Another teacher in East Khasi Hills who was recruited in April last year said, “In other districts like Nongstoin and Jowai, they are getting Rs 39,000-plus salary for the same post while we are getting only Rs 34,000-plus.”
“It is the same government who appointed them, it is the same post, then why the disparity? Where is our money,” the teacher added.
Stating that a lot of confusion prevails, the teacher said, “We seek clarification from the government regarding the salary of assistant teacher who are newly recruited in government LP schools, which is different from one district to another.”
