HNLC sends formal letter offering to hold peace talks with government

Shillong, Feb 10: Meghalaya government has received a formal  letter from the proscribed militant group, HNLC offering to hold unconditional talks with the Government of India.

Informing this here today, Meghalaya Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said that the HNLC had sent the formal letter expressing its willingness  to hold unconditional peace talks with the Government to the state Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma with copies to the Deputy Chief Minister and the Home Minister.

The Home Minister said that the Government which has started the process to identify a interlocutor for initiating the peace process, would not expedite things in the greater interest of peace and development in the state.
