MDC accused of abandoning PMGSY road projects

Tura, Feb 16: A complaint has been filed against GHADC MDC from Zikzak, Akthar Ali for allegedly abandoning two PMGSY road constructions in his own constituency which was allotted to him before his election.

The complaint was filed by the Zikzak regional unit of the GSU to the South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner.

According to the union, the roads in question are the PMGSY road from Hullukona to Joshipara and another from Joshipara to Dingampara both of which are long overdue in their completion. The union added that due to the long abandonment of the construction, the two under construction are getting damaged day by day.

“The local people had requested him many times to complete the roads, to which an assurance was given by him. However, after being elected as an MDC, he has taken advantage and ignored the complaints of the public,” President of the union Teseng D Sangma said.

The union urged the Deputy Commissioner to look into the matter and direct him to complete the construction before the rainy season in the interest of the general public.
