SHILLONG, Feb 22: If the state government fails to release the pending salaries of five months by the end of this month, the members of Meghalaya SSA Schools’ Association (MSSASA) will take a march to the Secretariat on March 2, the association said on Tuesday.
MSSASA general secretary, Aristotle C Rymbai, said that they have decided to take a mass march to the Secretariat if their pending salaries from October last year till February 2022 are not released within February 28.
He also said that the general executive committee meeting, which was held on Tuesday, has decided to withdraw the non-cooperation movement which they had launched since December 21 last year. “It is really unfortunate that the state government has not paid heed to our demands to release their pending salaries,” Rymbai remarked.
Earlier, the state government had released salaries for August and September but the teachers said this would not help mitigate their sufferings and continued with the protest demanding the release of salaries of the remaining three months.
