Tura, March 1: A Police Team from Dimapara ICP in South Garo Hills of the state yesterday rescued a person who had been held captive by his relatives for his ‘mental illness’.
Upon receiving information on social media on a viral video regarding a man being wrongly confined in an isolated place in a village called Panchimgre, under Gasuapara Police Station for more than eight years, police rescued Grenal B. Marak (32 years), S/o Henison M. Sangma who was held captive by his own relatives for his mental illness has been rescued.
The person has been forwarded for medical treatment and management at Psychiatric Ward, Baghmara Civil Hospital. Legal action is being initiated against all those responsible for holding the person captive and case is being initiated at Gasuapara Police Station.
