SHILLONG: MeECL defeated Raj Bhawan by 44 runs in a league match of the Inter Office cum Corporate T-20 Cricket Tournament organised by the Shillong Cricket Association at Polo Grounds here on Friday.
MeECL won the toss and elected to bat first scoring 134 for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. Sandy Swer scored 68 of 47 balls while Rakesh Thakur retained figures of 1/11 of his 4 overs.
In reply, Raj Bhawan were bundled out for 90 runs in 19.2 overs. O Thapa scored 25 of 22 balls while Sandy Swer shined with the ball too, claiming three wickets for seven runs.
The crucial match between Meghalaya Secretariat and Purple Rain was washed out due to rain and has been re-scheduled for Saturday.
Sides like SS NetCom, Veterinary, MECL, BSNL have already assured themselves of a quarter final berth.
