Cheating case

Besides various crimes in coal mines and accidental deaths of the miners, leasing out of mines to non indigenous persons and subsequent cheating cases came to the fore with an aggrieved party filing a complaint with the police. One John Martin Lamurong , lodged a complaint at Ranikor police station recently that one Gaurav Singh Rathore has cheated him of Rs. 71 lakh, being the remaining unpaid amount for a coal mine leased to the accused by the complainant. Police are investigating the case.

Two persons, Vikram Rai Ryngkhlem and Sandy Challam lodged a complaint at Jowai police station that one Aulinda Lamin cheated them of Rs. 99,500 and Rs. 19,850 respectively.

Theft cases

On March 14 between 1 pm and 5.30 pm, miscreants stole a laptop computer belonging to Jeffrey Khymdeit from Room No. 116 of MLA Hostel at Police Bazar.

On March 14 at around 9 am, miscreants stole a motorcycle (ML-05J-0243) belonging to Wantiew Khongmen from Laban, Shillong.

On the night of March 13, miscreants stole mobile recharge vouchers valued around Rs. 1 lakh, grocery items valued around Rs. 8,300 and Rs. 1,000 from the shop of K. Wanniang at NEHU Campus, Shillong.

One Simon Joseph lodged a complaint at Rynjah police station that on March 12 at around 8 pm, miscreants stole a CCTV camera installed in the campus of St. George Secondary School at Nongmynsong, Shillong.

On March 10 at around 5 pm, Rilang Synnah stole utensils from the house of one Sabina Dkhar at Jalyiah village, East Jaintia Hills and also threatened her with dire consequences.

Graft cases

BG Momin, BDO, Resubelpara lodged a complaint on March 13 at Bajengdoba police station that Imbarthon Marak, President and Ginden Marak, Secretary of Merongdik Village Employment Council (VEC) misappropriated Rs. 3,09,496- from a project of 2011-2012. Momin, also lodged a complaint that Winsang Sangma, President and Bimseng Marak, Secretary of Line-Ading VEC misappropriated Rs. 21,000- from a fund meant for construction of road for the year 2011-2012.

Kidnap

One Batemon Wanniang lodged a complaint at Khliehriat police station that on March 12 at around 7 pm, four masked miscreants armed with pistols entered her house at Shkensynriah , East Jaintia Hills and kidnapped her husband, Bhupen Bhuyan (43) in a Maruti Gypsy vehicle.
