SHILLONG: Pine Wood defeated The Shillong Times by a massive margin of 93 runs while Purple Rain Entertainment defeated Meghalaya Secretariat by 69 runs in league matches of the Inter Office cum Corporate T-20 Cricket Tournament 2013, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, at Polo Grounds on Saturday.
In the first match, Pine Wood won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 148-7 in 20 overs. Krishna scored 27 while Prasanta Phukon claimed 2-16 in two overs. In reply, The Shillong Times were bundled out for just 55 in 11.2 overs. Deepak took three wickets for 14 runs while Rishan took 2-11.
In the second match, Purple Rain won the toss and elected to bat first, posting 144-6 in 20 overs. Rajesh Tatti scored 41. In reply, Meghalaya Secretariat were dismissed for 75 in 19.2 overs. Wanlam scored 26 while Andrew took 3-11.
The group stage drew to a close with these two matches and the first two quarterfinal contests will see SS Net Com face BSNL and MeECL take on Veterinary Department on Monday. On Tuesday, Pine Wood will go up against MLP while Purple Rain will face 6th Battalion.
