SHILLONG, March 9: The crucial tripartite meeting between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the chief ministers of Meghalaya and Assam to finalise the resolution of dispute in six of the twelve areas of difference has been postponed to March 15. Shah’s busy schedule is said to have led to the deferment.
Informing this on Wednesday, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said he had a telephonic conversation with the Union Home Minister on Tuesday and the latter requested if the meeting could be postponed to March 15.
The CM said that he had been requested to be ready for the meeting during the day as the Union Home Minister wanted to discuss the issue in a detailed manner and he had made the plans accordingly but the meeting was postponed.
“So we will just wait for the final confirmation. My expectation is that we should be having the meeting either on March 15 or on March 18 or somewhere during that period. It is the question of the convenience of the Home Minister, the Assam CM and me,” he added.
