Indian Railways to electrify all its railway lines

HYDERABAD, March 12 Union Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Patil Danve has said that the Indian Railways is on a mission mode to electrify all its Railway lines along the existing broad Gauge routes.
Speaking after inaugurating electrification works from Manmad to Mukhed and laid foundation stone for traction substation at a function held at Jalna Railway station on Saturday, the Minister said that the Manmad Mudkhed section over South Central Railway (SCR) is a critical rail link in Marathwada region.
He said the Manmad Mudkhed electrification project will give a thrust to further enhance the infrastructure facilities and provide seamless connectivity to the region from all directions.
The project has been undertaken with a cost of Rs. 484 crore and will cover a distance of 357 kms.
Danve stated that the electrification of Railway lines will reduce the carbon emission and fuel costs duly protecting the environment.
Further, he stated that top priority has been accorded for completion of dedicated freight corridors and redevelopment of Railway stations across the Indian Railways network.
The budget allocation for Rail infrastructure works for Maharashtra state has been increased in many fold from Rs. 1100 crore to Rs. 11,000 crore. The doubling works from Manmad to Parbhani will be taken up in a phased manner.
The Minister said the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is under fast progress for introduction of High-speed trains in Bombay-Nagpur, Bombay-Pune-Hyderabad sections. (UNI)
