SHILLONG, March 14: Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma on Monday said the government will examine the suggestion of taking all the 60 MLAs to New Delhi to pursue Meghalaya’s demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit.
The CM was responding to a query from Mawlai MLA, PT Sawkmie who wanted to know if there was any possibility that the state will get ILP.
Sangma said the state’s demand is being examined by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The state government has sent multiple reminders to the MHA regarding implementation of ILP, he added.
Asked if the government was contemplating any alternative plan to get ILP since the Centre was not give due importance to the state’s demand, the CM replied in the negative and added that the state will continue to pursue the matter with the Centre.
He said multiple letters have been sent to the Centre and even a memorandum was submitted to the Union Home Minister when he had visited Shillong last year.
At this point of time, Sawkmie suggested that the CM should to take a delegation of all 60 MLAs to New Delhi to urge the Centre to implement ILP. Sangma responded positively, saying that the government would examine the suggestion.
