SHILLONG: Assembly Speaker AT Mondal on Wednesday disallowed NPP legislator James Sangma’s question on the different category of security provided to individuals in the State including legislators.

The Speaker disallowed the question quoting Rule 37 of the Clause 19 of Rules and Procedures of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.

Mondal said that though the question was inadvertently listed, it cannot be answered as it is against public interest to disclose the security aspects of individuals.

Sangma, who was visibly unhappy with the ruling of the Speaker, said that similar questions had been raised in previous Assembly sessions and the previous Home Minister had even replied to them.

However, the Speakers stuck to his decision and disallowed Sangma from posing the question.

Sangma also wanted know the names of all the individuals being provided under security under the different categories and their reasons, but in vain.
