JHADC okays deficit budget of Rs 12 crore

JOWAI, March 16: The Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) has approved a deficit budget of Rs 12.89 crore for the fiscal year 2021-22 on the second day of the Budget Session, on Wednesday.
The estimated revenue in the fiscal has been projected to be Rs 192.05 crore and the expenses are estimated at 204.94 crore.
In his speech, the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the JHADC, who is also the in charge of Finance department, Thombor Shiwat, informed the House that during the last financial year (2020-21), the District Council collected Rs 76.93 crore from all sources and spent Rs 64.31 crore.
He informed that the state government has so far released Rs 45 crore as royalty from major minerals which leaves an outstanding of Rs 18.18 crore.
The government has also released Rs 2.73 crore as share on taxes of motor vehicle, the CEM revealed.
The Council also received Rs 13.65 crore as grant from the 15th Finance Commission.
