Manhandling of MLA: Dorbar withdraws FIR

SHILLONG, March 16: Two residents of Lumshatsngi-Kench’s Trace Dorbar Shnong, who were arrested on Tuesday night for allegedly attempting to manhandle local MLA and Social Welfare Minister, Sanbor Shullai, were released on Wednesday afternoon.
The duo was arrested following an FIR filed by the Executive Committee of the Dorbar Shnong.
The FIR was withdrawn after the two signed an undertaking at Laban Police Station not to repeat such act in the future, in the presence of local MLA, Sanbor Shullai, Rangbah Shnong, Kyrsoi Bok Nongbri, besides members of the Executive Committee and others.
Sanbor had skipped the Assembly session on Wednesday to ensure that the matter is resolved amicably.
A large number of residents of Lumshatsngi-Kench’s Trace had gathered at Laban Police Station at 11 am, who subsequently dispersed after the duo was released. General secretary of Seng Samla Lumshadsngi/Kench’s Trace, D Mawlong confirmed that the matter has been settled amicably between the two parties.
