SHILLONG, March 16: A controversy has sparked after NPP named Ransom Sutnga, an engineer in the PWD (Buildings), as the party candidate to contest for the North Shillong seat and participate in active politics without tendering resignation to his post.
As per the Meghalaya Service (Conduct) Rules 2019, a government employee cannot be part of any political party nor can he/she participate in any political activity.
“We have not violated any rules. We know what we are doing and we are not doing (it) blindly. At the right moment, things will be made known,” said NPP state president WR Kharlukhi, refusing to comment further.
Questions were earlier raised on the active participation of Ransom Sutnga, and against Kharlukhi for “violating” the rules.
