Assault cases

One Kanta Nongkynrih lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar police station that on March 21 at around 6:15 pm, one unidentified person assaulted her at Lummawrie, Laitumkhrah and snatched her hand-bag containing Office ID Card, Rs. 5,000 and other documents.

On March 21 at around 7:20 am, Tutu Banik and Deepak Banik armed with iron rods and sticks trespassed into the room of Pradip Choudhury at Srimanta Sankar Dev Cultural Center, Bishnupur, Shillong. They assaulted him and also snatched an undisclosed amount of money from him.

One dead

One Dondor Syiem (28) died on the spot after being run over by a truck at around 4:30 PM at Upper New Nongstoin on Friday. Syiem was a coal labourer at the depot there. His duty involved unloading coal from the trucks that brought the coal from various quarries in the district. This evening when one of the trucks bearing registration no ML-06-3494 arrived at the depot to unload the coal, the driver while reversing the vehicle did not notice the labourer and ran over him.

Theft

On March 16 at around 7 pm, miscreants stole one cell-phone and Rs. 58,700 from the house of Hedrine P Marak at Rongbu Bagabata, North Garo Hills.

Witchcraft

One Ainusmera Kharnaior lodged a complaint at Laban police that on March 16 at around 9:30 pm, three persons – Rikitlang Kharnaior, Stanly Jyrwa and Shaining Star Kharnaior assaulted one Spendri Kharmyndai at Lempluh village , alleging him of practicing witchcraft. Police arrested two of the accused -Kharnaior and Jyrwa.

Arrest

DM Wahlang, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Election), East Khasi Hills lodged a complaint at Shillong Sadar police station that one Indra Bahadur Sarki had submitted fake certificates for applying to get an EPIC. Police arrested the accused.
