Jhalupara village council felicitates local legislator

SHILLONG, March 27: As a token of appreciation, Jhalupara Village Council in collaboration with Shillong Cantonment Lease Holders’ Association and other organisations felicitated local MLA Sanbor Shullai at Jhalupara Community Hall on Sunday. The village council expressed gratitude to the MLA for the initiatives in providing additional water supply through PHE department to Jhalupara and Cantonment area.
Speaking on the occasion, Headman of Jhalupara, Mohan Limbu, appreciated the MLA’s efforts to provide various developmental schemes for Jhalupara.
Working president of Lease Holders’ Association, MD Zakaria, pointed out that Shullai has been taking various initiatives to help resolve Cantonment lease holders’ problems.
On the day, the local MLA provided financial assistance of Rs 1.45 lakh for construction of sanitation facilities for 30 below-poverty-line families residing in Jhalupara Cantonment area.
The MLA said that his focus would be development of Cantonment areas, which, according to him, have been deprived of for the past 50 years. On the sidelines, a discussion was held for one-way traffic arrangement, designated no parking place in order to resolve traffic congestion problem inside the locality, which was attended by official of the traffic police personal from East Khasi Hills.
