Guv assures peace in State by year end

SHILLONG: The National president of the Youth Hostel Association of India, Dr Harish K Saxena on Wednesday met the Governor RS Mooshahary during his visit to the State.

During the meeting, the Governor assured Saxena that by the end of this year there will be total peace in the State.

The assertion of the Governor assumes significance in view of the fact that Youth Hostel Association of India is trying to attract the youths to visits the North Eastern States including Meghalaya.

Reacting to a query about the fact that the North East region is often branded as insurgency infested region which may hinder the coming of tourists, he said that the things have changed over the years. “When development takes places, Insurgency is bound to decline and I give full credit to the youth of the region,” he said.

Youth Hostel Association of India, Shillong branch recently inaugurated another hotel in Sai-Mika Park in Sohra to accommodate youths who like to visit the State.

According to Saxena, the Association is conducting various programmes for the youths and very soon the association plans to conduct a National programme in Sohra.

The Association currently has four youth hostels in Meghalaya and eighty eight youth hostels across the country.
