Sarkar lauds over role of SC, CAG

 Agartala: Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Tuesday lauded the Supreme Court and a few High Courts for taking tough stand on some scams.

While speaking on the inaugural function of commencement of High Court of Tripura here, Sarkar alleged corruption has become an integral part of the governance.

“Those who are running the – a few leaders and executive have been working for the welfare of corporate houses. The unholy alliance between a section of politicians and executives has been emerging a threat to good governance”, he said.

Sarkar said constitutional bodies the apex court, CAG and a few High Courts have been playing important role to bring the perpetrators to the justice.

“People have started feeling that everything is not yet lost after the bold steps adopted by the Supreme Court, CAG and a few High Courts”, he said.

“In some cases executive believes they (constitutional bodies) have been crossing the laxman rekha but we think constitutional bodies like CAG and Supreme Court adopted right move”, he claimed.

Sarkar, in his speech, the state government would render all possible help to the judiciary to strengthen the democratic values prevailing in the state.

Nothing that today is the historic day for the people of the state, Sarkar appealed the custodian of the newly floated High Court to ensure speedy justice.

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Mr. Justice Altamas Kabir in his speech narrated the importance of having a full-fledged High Court for each state.

“The then Advocate General for Tripura Nishit Ranjan Adhikari used to tell me a separate High Court for the state. He told me how it was difficult to dispose case in different states of Northeastern states where diversity prevails”, he recalled.

Asserting that every citizen has the right to get justice, Justice Kabir said he had introduced free legal aid service across the country.

“The free legal aid service should penetrate to nock and corner of the country so that people who want to get legal service could get it easily”, he said.

State’s Law Minister Tapan Chakraborty, Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court Justice AK Goel and Chief Justice of High court of Tripura Justice Deepk Gupta were remained present in the function.
