U-16 cricket: Jail Road Boys, BK Bajoria win

SHILLONG: Shillong Jail Road Boys HS School defeated St Nanak Secondary School by 18 runs while BK Bajoria School defeated Queenie Secondary School by eight wickets in the 8th IP Das Memorial (Junior under 16) Inter School Cricket Tournament 2013, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, played at the Cricket Grounds, Polo.

In the first match, St Nanak Secondary School won the toss and elected to field. Jail Road Boys then scored 113-7 in 20 overs. Vicky Sunar scored 35 off 28 balls while Sunny Roy took 2-14 in four overs. In reply, St Nanak were dismissed for 95 in 15.1 overs. Sundesh Ray scored 27 off 14 balls while Sahauddin took 4-14 runs in three overs.

In the second match, Queenie Secondary School won the toss and elected to bat, but were bowled out for 61 in 12.2 overs. Ronnie Pohlynjar scored 16 while Kiran Biswa took 4-10 in four overs. In reply, BK Bajoria made 62-2 in 6.4 overs. Ram Nakshetra scored 18 while Ahmad Ali took two wickets for 20 runs in three overs.

The next matches will see Shillong Secondary School play Laban Bengalee Boys HS School, while St Anthony’s HS School face St Xavier’s Secondary School on Tuesday.
