SHILLONG: The Ri-Bhoi police have detained one person in connection with the sexual assault and murder of a girl in 12th mile area, Ri-Bhoi, recently.
The detained person, identified as one Laben D Sangma of 12th mile area, was remanded in seven days’ judicial custody after he was produced in the court on Wednesday.
Confirmed sources said that the detained person, identified as one Laben D Sangma of 12th mile area, is a suspect in the case as he had made a phone call to the victim before the incident.
According to sources, police suspect his involvement in the incident and he is being currently interrogated to find out details about the incident.
