Traffic arrangement for ex-CM’s funeral

SHILLONG, April 22: In the Shillong Traffic Police’s (STP) attempt to ensure free flow of traffic for public convenience, a temporary traffic arrangement will come into effect on Saturday on account of the state funeral of former Chief Minister and Speaker of Meghalaya, JD Rymbai, which will be attended by several dignitaries and the public. The temporary traffic arrangement will be enforced from 11 am till withdrawn, according to a statement.
According to the arrangement, there will be no entry for vehicles heading towards Madanheh, Mawlai, from Jingthangbriew junction near Mother Mary statue, Phudmuri Community Hall junction, Dong Mali II junction, and Mawdatbaki autorickshaw stand.
Vehicles will also not be allowed entry from Nongpathaw junction towards the residence of JD Rymbai, and from Phudmuri junction towards Phudmuri Presbyterian Church-Madanheh, Mawlai.
With regard to parking, the STP has indentified parking on one side at the stretch from Jingthangbriew junction up to Madanheh, Mawlai; one side along the stretch from Phudmuri Presbyterian Church up to Madanheh, Mawlai; inside the premises of Shillong Polytechnic; Dong Mali II junction up to Madanheh, Mawlai; and Forest land near Phudmuri Community Hall.
