U16 cricket: Jail Road Boys, St Nanak win

SHILLONG: Shillong Jail Road Boys HS School, BK Bajoria HS School, St Anthony’s HS School and Laban Bengalee Boys HS School have reached the semifinals of the 8th IP Das Memorial (Junior under 16) Inter School Cricket Tournament 2013, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association.

Meanwhile, Jail Road Boys defeated BK Bajoria by 81 runs and St Nanak School defeated Ruprekha Parishad HS School by 15 runs in league stage matches played at the Cricket Grounds, Polo.

In the first match, Jail Road Boys won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring a massive 143-6 in 20 overs.

Niku Khongthaw scored a scintillating 51 off 36 balls while Nitesh Yadav took 1-19.

In reply, BK Bajoria were bundled out for 62 in 14 overs.

Sourav Sharma scored 25 while Sahabuddin took 4-7 in four overs.

With this win Jail Road Boys top Group A while BK Bajoria finished second.

In the second match, St Nanak School won the toss and elected to bat. They were then bowled out for 107 in 17.3 overs.

Rafikul Rahman scored 14 while Kishan Kumar took 2-15.

In reply, Ruprekha Parishad couldn’t overcome the smallish target and were dismissed for 92 in 19.2 overs.

Rahul Balmiki scored 17 while Pankaj Kumar took 2-16.

St Anthony’s topped Group B while Laban Bengalee Boys came second.

The first semifinal will see Jail Road Boys take on Laban Bengalee Boys, while St Anthony’s will clash with BK Bajoria in the second.
