Shillong: The West Garo Hills District Administration warned the FKJGP, Garo Hills unit, against taking the law into their hands after the Federation refused to call off the night road blockade in Garo Hills starting Tuesday despite requests from the administration.

The District Administration had convened an emergency meeting with the FKJGP on Tuesday afternoon, in which other NGOs, senior citizens and members of Tura Merchant Association besides others took part.

During the meeting the District Administration along with other NGOs present appealed to the FKGJP to call off the proposed agitation considering the adverse effect it would have on the general public.

However, despite the requests, the FKJGP decided to go ahead with the road blockade in the entire Garo Hills.

After a prolonged discussion on the issue, the District Administration warned the agitating NGO not to take law into their own hands and made it clear that if anybody resorts to any form of violence, action would be taken as per law.

Later, the FKJGP relaxed the timing of the road blockade by an hour.

The blockade will be from 7 PM to 5 AM on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, informed FKJGP president Pritam Marak.

The road blockade was called to demand uninterrupted power supply in Garo Hills.
