SHILLONG: St Xavier’s Secondary School defeated Shillong Jail Road Boys HS School by four wickets and St Anthony’s HS School defeated BK Bajoria HS School by 10 runs in the semifinals of the 8th IP Das Memorial (Junior under 16) Inter School Cricket Tournament 2013, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, played at the Cricket Grounds, Polo, on Tuesday.
In the first match, Jail Road Boys won the toss and elected to bat first.
They then struggled with to reach 86-9 in 20 overs.
Bishnu Mahato scored 23 runs, while Aryan Bora took 3-15 in four overs.
In reply, St Xavier’s made 88-6 in 14 overs. Sahabuddin Ali took 2-18 in four overs.
In the second match, BK Bajoria HS School won the toss and elected to field, a choice not many teams have made in previous matches.
St Anthony’s HS School scored 120-7 in 20 overs. Akash Dutta scored 26 while Mukesh Kumar took 2-25. In reply, BK Bajoria were restricted to 110-9 in 20 overs. Sourav Sharma made 23 while Sagar Singha took 3-14.
The final will be played on Saturday at 11:00am.
