SHILLONG, May 8: AITC legislator from Umroi, George B Lyngdoh, on Sunday, acknowledged that there has been a reshuffle of supporters in many constituencies including his even as he maintained that it will not in any way impact their prospects in the upcoming Assembly polls.
Terming it as a “natural” phenomenon in elections, the Opposition chief whip said, “In every election, there will be reshuffling of supporters. That is a natural thing and our job is to reach out to the right thinking situation and garner support for ourselves and the group that we have so that we can sail through even in the next election.”
Lyngdoh, who had left the congress to join AITC, enjoyed the support of a huge Congress vote bank in his constituency.
The Congress has, however, been contending that the leaders might have left them but they have the advantage of their vote bank.
“As of now we have to do lot of work. We have been doing and we have to continue doing so because as leaders we have lot of aspirations to fulfill and based on that fulfillment and showing signs of hope will the people reelect any sitting member of the house,” said Lyngdoh.
Lyngdoh said it is too early to comment on what sort of challenges are lined up as far as rival candidates are concerned, while adding that who will be in the fray remains unconfirmed.
