SHILLONG, May 11: The Labour department will ensure that all domestic workers of Meghalaya are covered under e-Shram scheme, said Minister in-charge of Labour, Sanbor Shullai, at a programme organised by National Domestic Workers Movement Meghalaya Unit to celebrate Labour Day at RLSSCO Community Hall, Lumshatsngi, on Wednesday.
The e-Shram portal aims to create a national database of unorganised workers, which is seeded with an individual’s Aadhaar.
The benefits include financial support, social security scheme benefits, job opportunity, Bhima Yojana insurance cover, etc.
Shullai assured the gathering that he will take up the matter with the state government and ensure that the registered unorganised sector benefits from the state scheme as well.
