RESUBELPARA, May 15: Already delayed by years, a section of the under construction Damring Bridge in Resubelpara in North Garo Hills (NGH) suffered heavy damage in the ongoing rains this past Friday.
The damage occurred due to the flash floods with the portion that had been ready for further concrete work collapsing, along with its rods and beam casting being totaled.
The project is now expected to suffer further delay due to the damage it has taken.
A portion of the under construction bridge has also developed cracks due to the incident.
The bridge would have helped decongest traffic to and from the district headquarter of Resubelpara.
Meanwhile, incessant rains have raised water levels in most of the rivers in Garo Hills though the situation has still not called for an alarm.
With water levels rising in low lying areas of Selsella, the West Garo Hills district administration has sounded an alarm asking commuters to be wary of the rising waters.
