SHILLONG, May 17: All of the suspended Congress MLAs will decide their political tracks according to the counsel of their supporters, said one of the five suspended Congress legislators, Ampareen Lyngdoh, who chose to steer clear of divulging any information about a possible party they are eyeing to join.
The East Shillong MLA said that if her constituents advise her to join the BJP then she will happily join the saffron party.
“There is nothing to worry about my political future since it is my people who will guide me. All the five will decide on our political future as and when the time is right,” Lyngdoh told reporters, adding that all the five are in conversation with the supporters.
“We will go to the political parties which our supporters feel is the best option. We are not going to disclose any of that,” Lyngdoh said.
There are speculations that two suspended MLAs — Mohendro Rapsang and Kimfa Sidney Marbaniang — are set to join the NPP. Meanwhile, two more suspended Congress legislators — Process T Sawkmie and Mayralborn Syiem — are likely to join the UDP.
But, Lyngdoh argued that all the five MLAs will complete their term as Congress legislators. “Everyone is free to speculate. But we will be smarter. The system allows us to wait and watch. A suspension has serious interpretation and why would you want us to have political suicide that is not to be good for us,” the East Shillong MLA said.
Pointing out that the Congress has not freed the five MLAs and they have not given them any freedom by suspending them for a period of three and half years, Lyngdoh said, “The democratic system allows the suspended MLAs to choose to remain suspended. Nothing to be said officially and we await the expulsion”.
