TURA, May 22: A road project in East Garo Hills which was proposed and initiated while the Congress still held the reigns in the state has been kept pending till date by the MDA Government after it came to power.
The road project in question is the Rongjeng-Mangsang-Adokgre Road which was sanctioned on June 19, 2017, for an amount of Rs 123.28 crore.
The said road project involves a total of 54-kilometre road stretch.
Earlier, the matter was taken up in the Assembly Session which had raised the hopes of the people from the area.
The matter was raised by Opposition MLA Zenith Sangma to Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Public Works (Roads) Prestone Tynsong.
However, with less than a year left of the MDA’s term, the people have lost hopes of ever seeing the road complete.
“We were very happy when the matter was raised in the assembly. Unfortunately, it is still incomplete and whats left of the construction has also deteriorated,” local resident Chekam R Sangma lamented.
