SHILLONG: A goal in each half from the boot of Francis O Onyeama helped bottom of the table Southern Samity of Kolkata beat second-placed Mumbai Tigers 2-1 in their 2nd Division I-League second leg match in Bangalore on Tuesday.

This result has kept the door wide open for all the teams to qualify for the I-League top tier next season.

For Mumbai, Loukik Jhadav scored the consolation goal.

While Tuesday’s result has not changed the position of the clubs in the table, it has given extra hope to the two Shillong-based clubs – Langsning FC and Rangdajied United FC – who are fourth and fifth in the standings.

Mohammedan Sporting are leading the teams with 11 points, while Mumbai Tigers and Bhawanipore FC are in second and third with nine points each.

Langsning are just a point behind with eight and Rangdajied have seven.

Southern Samity have five points and are in last place.

Rangdajied, who defeated Bhawanipore on Monday, will next play the Tigers on Friday.

The day prior will see Langsning face Bhawanipore.
