SHILLONG: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has intimated to the Supreme Court on its decision to use VVPAT (paper trails EVMs) in a bye-election soon.

Informing this here on Friday, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Prashant Naik said that the statement of NPP legislator James K Sangma while moving his cut motion in the Assembly which concluded on Thursday that the Supreme Court has issued directive to the ECI to use VVPAT is not correct.

“There was no such directive from the Supreme Court,” Naik added.
