SHILLONG: The All India Garo Union (AIGU) has denied the allegations of ANVC-B that the union is having nexus with the newly floated militant outfit United A’chik Liberation Army (UALA) as reported earlier.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, AIGU president Elbarth Marak said, “The AIGU has no link with any outfit in any matter whatsoever.”

It may be mentioned that the Breakaway faction of Achik National Volunteer Council (ANVC-B) had alleged nexus between the newly floated militant outfit United A’chik Liberation Army (UALA), All India Garo Union (AIGU) and the Garo National Union (GNU) in not allowing the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council to function through proper election.

According to the All India Garo Union, the AIGU Assam is working in tandem with Government authorities to maintain peace and harmony in the region even as it said that the union had first initiated the peace talk during the infamous ethnic clash that took place in the year 2011.
