SHILLONG: The second official report into the vandalism during the KSU sponsored Khasi National Awakening Day rally was submitted to the Government on Wednesday night.

The administrative report into the incident was submitted to Chief Secretary WMS Pariat by the Commissioner of Division, RV Suchiang, who probed the incident, sources said.

Earlier, a magisterial inquiry by DM Wahlang into the matter had established the role of KSU in the violent incidents.

Several people were injured and shops damaged especially at Laitumkhrah after the rally turned violent on April 4.

As the magisterial inquiry report had established the role of KSU, the probe of Suchiang focused on the matter related to any probable lapses on the part of either the police personnel or the magistrates who were posted during the rally. The details of the report are yet to be known.

Suchiang had examined police personnel, KSU members and magistrates during the course of the inquiry.

The terms of the inquiry among others included whether the incident was as a result of any conspiracy, or was there any involvement of the people who instigated the activists resulting in violence.

Police are yet to make any arrest which has sparked criticism from various quarters.

Several FIRs have also piled up in police stations, but in vain.
