11 B’deshis held over trespass; two local facilitators detained

SHILLONG, June 16: Eleven Bangladeshi nationals have been detained by East Jaintia Hills Police for illegally trespassing into the Indian territory. Two locals, who have been identified as John Patwad and Jingieit Suting, have also been detained for facilitating the same.
It is pertinent to note that this is another similar incident within two weeks.
On June 7, six Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended along with a duo from Jaintia Hills, viz. Dionitrios Khyriem and Merciful Suja, on the charges of illegal infiltration and abetment of the same respectively.
A similar incident came to light after the secretary of Kuliang village filed a police complaint, stating that the Village Defence Party and Village Dorbar on Thursday morning intercepted 11 Bangladeshi nationals, including women and children.
In the complaint, it was alleged that the Bangladeshi nationals were not in possession of proper documents.
As per the complainant, the Bangladeshi nationals illegally trespassed into Indian territory through Kuliang village.
One John Patwad and Jingieit Suting, both from the same village, were also held for aiding the infiltration.
One Amal Kanti Das, the driver of the vehicle in which they were travelling, was also held in this regard.
